Western heat will peak during the weekend before slowly easing. Meanwhile, much of the Midwest will experience a period of generally favorable temperatures.
By early next week, however, hot weather will return across the nation’s midsection. By the middle of next week, triple-digit heat (100°F or greater) may extend as far north as Nebraska and South Dakota, while much of the Midwest will experience temperatures topping 90°F.
Relatively light precipitation will accompany the shifting heat, with most areas of the country receiving 5-day rainfall totals of an inch or less.
