Taking preventative steps to improve health

More hospitals and community programs are taking a “food as medicine” approach to healthcare. 

Tom Bannon, Chief Foundation Officer for Indiana-based Community Hospital Anderson says health starts outside the walls of the hospital and the goal is to prevent people from having to step foot in it. The hospital recently expanded its on-site farm. Mikkal Hodge, who operates the farm, says the farm not only increases access to fresh fruits and vegetables, but it helps address the larger issue of food insecurity.
