An agronomy expert says now is the time for soybean farmers to take a look at their weed control plans for the 2024 growing season.

Dean Grossnickle, technical development lead with Syngenta, says harvest recently wrapped up and the results are still fresh.

“Specifically, with some of these driver weeds like waterhemp or Palmer amaranth, they’re really tough to control and if we put it on the back burner, maybe we have kind of rose colored glasses when we get into March and April like, ‘oh yeah, it really wasn’t that bad, you know, because I don’t remember it.’”

He tells Brownfield more and more producers are planting soybeans earlier.
