Swine program to focus on wean-to-harvest biosecurity

The pork industry is launching a program focused on wean-to-harvest biosecurity.

Dr. Megan Niederwerder with the Swine Health Information Center says they are collaborating with the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research and the National Pork Board to identify vulnerabilities during specific phases of production.

“So we are looking at both the site biosecurity as well as the transport biosecurity for the wean-to-harvest phases.”

She tells Brownfield that involves bio-exclusion and bio-containment.
