McKalip: GM-corn dispute expected to be settled in 2024

The chief ag negotiator in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative says he’d like the genetically modified corn dispute between the U.S. and Mexico resolved this year.

The United States is currently disputing Mexico’s ban on GMO corn for human consumption, saying it violates GMO provisions in the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement.

Doug McKalip says the translation of the materials has taken more time than expected.

“Dealing with complex science, genetics, etc.,” says McKalip.
