Several scattered rain events were a welcome sight to Michigan farmers last week.  USDA statistician Marlo Johnson says the rain helped bring relief to the lower peninsula, as many central counties and the thumb region were very dry.

Ninety-one percent of the corn is silking with 38% now in the dough stage.

Ninety-four percent of Michigan’s soybeans are blooming with 70% setting pods.

Ninety-three percent of the winter wheat has been harvested, 52% of the barley is mature, and 89% of dry edible beans are blooming.
