Another week of hot, dry weather aided crop development in Iowa.

After widespread planting delays this spring, the latest USDA crop report says more than 30 percent of corn is silking or beyond.  That’s four days behind last year and four days behind the five-year average.  Corn rated good to excellent remained at 81 percent.

For soybeans, 55 percent are blooming compared to 61 percent normally.  The condition rating fell one percentage point to 78 percent good to excellent.
