North-central South Dakota farmer Troy Hadrick says input costs have been one of his biggest challenges this fall.
“It’s kind of scary just how much diesel has jumped here recently,” he said. “Maybe a month ago we had diesel around $4.59 at the pump. That has shot up to $5.29.”
But he tells Brownfield, “Certainly that is a huge concern, energy costs and input costs, but when harvest is here and it’s time to get rolling and get calves hauled you just have to do it, get it done, and then we’ll see how we’re going to adjust to that.”
Hadrick says feed costs have been another concern.
