USDA’s latest crop report says soybean harvest advanced to 29 percent, one day behind the five-year average.
Corn harvested for grain, at five percent, is also slightly behind the usual pace.
Sugarbeet harvest is 13 percent, and University of Minnesota Extension crops educator Dave Nicolai tells Brownfield there’s a lot of “pre-harvest” going on.
“Where they open up the fields but don’t go in and wholly harvest them at this point in time, but just enough to start the area factories whether it’s the Red River Valley or southern Minnesota.
