Foreign ag land executive order still in effect in MO

Missouri lawmakers were unable to reach an agreement on foreign ag land ownership during the state legislative session that wrapped up last month.

Senator Rusty Black from District 12 sponsored a bill that would have modified provisions on foreign ownership of ag land and he tells Brownfield the upcoming election got in the way.

“It’s an awful hot topic to campaign on,” he says. “It was also close to getting fixed last year, the documents were on my desk.”

Missouri Governor Mike Parson has an executive order in place through the end of the year that bans China and other foreign adversaries from owning farmland in the state within 10 miles of critical military facilities.  Black says the executive order is important.
