Southwest Iowa farmer Duane Aistrope says the 2023 growing season could be more important than ever for many farmers.
“I feel this is a make or break year with all of us.”
He tells Brownfield high interest rates and input costs have been cutting into the profitability of farming.
“I’m just concerned about everyone’s bottom end dollar,” Aistrope said, “especially the younger farmers trying to get out here and start up a farming business.”
Aistrope says he expects some farmers to hold off on making large investments this year.
