Dry weather and a warm weekend helped Wisconsin farmers keep harvesting

A mostly dry week allowed Wisconsin’s farmers to keep on harvesting.  USDA statistician Greg Busler says the week started cold but warmed up late in the week allowing farmers to make progress with crops.

The soybean harvest is 76% finished statewide, about 8 days ahead of average.

The potato harvest is about 76% finished, and about a day ahead of average.

The corn silage harvest is nearly complete.

Ninety-six percent of corn for grain is mature with 22% of the corn harvested.  That’s about four days behind the average.  The corn moisture content is averaging 23% with 77% of the crop now in good to excellent condition statewide.
