Drought remains a concern heading into 2024

A state climatologist says precipitation deficits are mounting and it’s a concern for farmers heading into the 2024 growing season.

“We do see this across the Corn Belt, though not as bad as we have across portions of Iowa.”

Justin Glisan with the Iowa Department of Agriculture says temperatures have been unseasonably warm. “If you look at the outlooks for where we are in December, warmer temperatures and near normal to slightly below average chances for precipitation.
