CME milk futures mixed, cash dairy lower Thursday

Milk futures were mixed and the cash dairy markets were mostly lower Thursday on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. 

February Class III milk was down $0.11 at $16.12.  March was down $0.14 at $17.19.  April was down $0.14 at $17.49.  May was up $0.01 at $17.87.  

June through December contracts ranged from nine cents lower in July to four cents higher in June, with July being the only month that lost value.  Wednesday’s Class III trade volume was estimated at just over twelve hundred contracts. 

Dry whey was up $0.03 at $0.52.  Two sales were recorded at $0.50 and $0.52. 

Forty-pound cheese blocks were down $0.0125 at $1.6025.  No sales were recorded. 

Cheese barrels were down $0.0075 at $1.5675.  No sales were recorded. 

Butter was down $0.0250 at $2.7450.  No sales were recorded. 

Nonfat dry milk was down $0.0175 at $1.2025.   Three sales were recorded, ranging from $1.2025 to $1.2050.
