An increasingly active, if not stormy weather pattern ahead for most of the Heartland

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for near- or above-normal temperatures in the Gulf Coast region and from the Mississippi Valley to the East Coast, while colder-than-normal conditions will prevail from the Pacific Coast to the Plains. 

Meanwhile, near- or above-normal precipitation can be expected nationwide; locations with the greatest likelihood of experiencing wet weather include the Atlantic Coast States from Georgia to New Jersey and an area stretching from the Southwest to the central High Plains.
