Ag groups weigh in on Dietary Guidelines hearing

Several agricultural groups are asking the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee to stick to science when crafting new standards for 2025.

Vermont dairy farmer and Olympic athlete Elle St. Pierre is urging the committee to include new research on dairy fats and oppose using plant-based alternatives as milk replacements.

“The beverages are so nutritionally different from real milk that whether one views them positively or negatively, their impact on health cannot be assumed to be the same as or even similar to that of milk,” she commented.
