An animal feed industry leader says the slow regulatory process is leaving the U.S. behind.
Head of the American Feed Industry Association Constance Cullman tells Brownfield it can take at least five years to approve a new feed ingredient.
“I can’t forecast the timeline of any product going through regulatory approval and that’s been a big challenge for us,” she shares.
Cullman says some additives are currently available in other developed nations which reduce environmental impacts of livestock and improve food safety, along with animal welfare, and productivity.
