A slow corn harvest for northeastern SD farmers

A farmer and grain market analyst in northeastern South Dakota says corn harvest is slow due to the moisture.

DuWayne Bosse tells Brownfield it’s partly due to the weather, but the corn also has a good yield and higher than usual moisture content, which means more of it must go through the dryer prior to storing.

“It’s a little different. We haven’t had that happen in the last 3 to 4 years up here, but we finally have a big crop and that’s part of it.”

Bosse says farmers are storing most of the corn, waiting on better prices.
