A former chairman of the House Agriculture Committee says finding more money for the farm safety net of the next farm bill is challenging lawmakers.

Collin Peterson, the president of a lobbying firm The Peterson Group, says he met with Senate Ag Committee Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow before lawmakers left Washington D.C. for a state work break in early April. He says a boost in reference prices for the Ag Risk Coverage Program and Price Loss Coverage Program is expensive.
