The Birger Sandzén Memorial Gallery hosts the exclusive screening of The Murals, a documentary that explores the iconic Uptown Post Office Murals in Chicago, created during the New Deal era. Dive into the history and artistry of these murals, painted by Henry Varnum Poor, a native of Chapman, Kansas.
The program begins at 2:00pm with filmmaker TJ Jamroz in attendance.
“Through this filmmaking journey, I came to understand the outsized influence Poor had on the 20th century,” Jamroz says. “He might be the most unknown influential artist of the 20th century. He was involved everywhere with everything.” (Quote from an interview with Jamroz on Soundcloud.)
TG Jamroz has a rich history in indie films, stage plays, and music videos, and was once a part of the East Town music and art scene in Grand Rapids.
