Can you think of a better way to celebrate Independence Day weekend than at a historic fort? We sure can’t! Come join us July 4th-6th for our Independence Day weekend celebration and experience the fort as it comes to life with reenactors and living historians. As always, we’ll have our firing demonstrations, blacksmith demonstrations, and programs, but we’ll make sure to add some surprises and tidbits for those who have visited before!

Friday
10:00AM – Strike the Iron: Blacksmithing Demonstration
11:00AM – Manmade Thunder: Artillery Firing Demonstration
12:00 Noon – Saluting of the Flag (including a cannon salute)
1:00PM – Martial Music: Communication on the 19th century Army
2:00PM – Steadfast Springfields: Small Arms Firing Demonstration
3:00PM – Fly the Colors: See an original Garrison Flag from Fort Larned NHS’s Museum collection
4:30PM – Retreat Ceremony (lowering of the flag and cannon salute)
Saturday

1:00PM – Martial Music: Communication on the 19th century Army
2:00PM – Steadfast Springfields: Small Arms Firing Demonstration
3:00PM – Children’s Storytime: Traveling trunk story written by David Clapsaddle about an 11-year-old boy trekking down the Santa Fe Trail. Program presented by Alice Clapsaddle.
4:30PM – Retreat Ceremony (lowering of the flag and cannon salute)
