The head of the US Meat Export Federation says outside factors should be pressuring demand for U.S. beef and pork, but so far they aren’t.
Dan Halstrom tells Brownfield inflation is a concern, inputs are higher, and prices are higher. “We have other concerns, too,” he says. “The strong dollar in a couple of key markets, we continue to have supply chain challenges, as well globally. Not only in the US and the West Coast, but China, Southeast Asia, etc.”
He says continued demand strength is a testament to the reputation of quality and taste of US products.
