Dairy export growth continues

The U.S. Dairy Export Council says dairy exports in September broke several records.

Total export values for the year are up 25 percent from 2021, while volumes are up four percent.

Exports of whey (+18%), cheese (+5%), and lactose (+32%) all set new September highs.  Butter shipments were up nearly 50 percent as Canada and Mexico both increased imports to bridge their production gaps.

The council says nonfat dry milk, skim milk powder exports dropped for the 10th consecutive month, down seven percent, likely because of limited product availability and lack of demand from China.
