SC Men’s Golf Wins First-Ever KCAC Championship

Garden City, Kan.-
The KCAC men’s golf championship was held last week at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course in Garden City, Kan. The par 72 course played 6801 yards for the tournament. This is the first year that the KCAC Championships were played in a 72-hole format. Previously, they played 54 holes over 3 rounds.

The Sterling men led from start to finish. This was the first time the men’s team has led a day, let alone the entire tournament. The teams battled severe winds that definitely made the course more difficult over the course of the three days. For the Sterling men’s golf team, this is their first-ever team championship and of course the first for Head Coach

Tanner George

Antonio Grande
finished 2nd individually, which is also the best individual finish by a Sterling College golfer at the KCAC Championship.

Grande came back from a 5 stroke deficit to hold an individual lead into the last holes, but under the conditions was not able to hold that lead for the individual title. Grande also shot a 70 in round 2 of the tournament which was the low score of the round. Four of Sterling’s five representatives landed in the top 20 in a field of 63 individuals.

Add to that, one of Sterling’s alternates finished in the top 20 as well. Needless to say, it was a great week for Sterling Men’s Golf.

Here are the individual results for the KCAC Champion Sterling College Warrior Men’s Golf Team.
