Pipeliners Struggle Offensively Over The Weekend

McPherson, Kan.The McPherson Pipeliners were in action for three games over the weekend. Falling 14-1, Friday in Goddard, as they took on the Kansas Curve. Coach Robl liked the way his team battled against one of the best pitchers in the league, he mentioned one big inning by the Curve hurt the Pipeliners early.

Saturday, they would host the Curve, in a back and forth contest, the Pipeliners would tie the game at 7 in the 7th, but in the 8th the Curve would get the go ahead run to win 8-7.

Coach Robl took full responsibility for the loss saying his team had opportunities in multiple innings, but he would say, “A few base running mistakes cost us the game.” He credited Fidel Hatch, who had an impressive start on the mound, pitching 6 ⅔ innings striking out five.

Sunday the Pipeliners struggled offensively against the Midwest Moos, as they would fall 13-7. Robl said. “I thought our offense was fairly stagnant today, and was never able to make adjustments.” He looks forward to getting back at it on Tuesday, after a day off on Monday.

They’ll begin a set of 4 games in-a-row starting on Tuesday, as they’ll host the Wellington Heat at Bulldog Park. First pitch is set for 5:30 p.m.
