McPherson, Kan. – The McPherson Pipeliners were in action Sunday afternoon taking on the Park City Rangers for their home opener at Bulldog Park.
The Pipeliners would be down as much as 8-1 going into the sixth before scraping their way within two runs after the 8th. Unfortunately the Rangers would score two in the top of ninth, as the Liners would find themselves down four going into the bottom of the ninth. In the bottom half, Mac would load the bases, and score three in the inning but would be picked off on the base paths for the final out of the game, falling 10-9.
Head Coach Nathan Robl said, “We are so close, the offense finally clicked and were able to mount a comeback.” He mentioned that on the mound his guys didn’t have their best stuff, but he was proud of the way they grinded out the game to keep it close. He would conclude by saying, “It’s a tough way to lose, but we’ve got a lot of baseball to play in the next few weeks.” Although their record isn’t where they want it, he said everyone still has a ton of good energy and are still having fun while getting better.
The Pipeliners fall to 0-3 against league opponents and will return to action at Bulldog Park at 5:30 this evening taking on the El Dorado Walnuts.
