MMS Cross Country Opens With Four Top 25 Finishers Thursday

Clearwater, Kan. – The McPherson Middle School Cross Country team opened their season on Thursday, with 4 runners finishing in the top 25. 

Head Coach Matt McCasland noted, “Our team ran really well today. Each runner improved their time considerably from our Time Trials last week.” “Eliza ran a great race.” McCasland said, as Eliza Jex would finish a team best 9th, for the seventh grade girls in a race with over 70 runners.

Molly Owen finished 23rd for the 8th grade girls. Head Coach Matt McCasland stated, “She earned a medal by settling in at an above average pace, and she was able to maintain it through the finish.”

The 8th grade boys were led by Ben Bocox, who finished 14th, and Jonas Emery, who finished 16th, they were able to keep pace side by side the entire race. Coach McCasland said, “They were able to push each other, and both had a great first showing.
