KCAC Announces 2022-23 Conference Student-Athlete Leadership Team

WICHITA, Kan. (kcacsports.com) — The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) is thrilled to announce the 26 student-athletes selected to the 2022-23 Student-Athlete Leadership Team (SALT). One male and one female student-athlete were selected from each of the 13 member institutions, each of which is of Sophomore or Junior standing and will represent their respective institutions at the conference level.

The KCAC SALT will serve as the voice for KCAC student-athletes to the conference and institutional leaders in matters of KCAC and NAIA rules, regulations, and policies that directly affect the student-athlete experience on an institutional, conference and national level. The group will meet on a regular basis, which will provide an opportunity to engage with other conference schools, to share ideas, goals, and best practices. These meetings will also provide the student-athletes an active role in the governance process on a conference and national level.

The following points reflect the primary purpose of the KCAC SALT:

  • Generate a student-athlete voice within the institution
  • Solicit student-athlete response to proposed NAIA legislation
  • Create a vehicle for student-athletes representing on campus-wide and conference-wide committees.

“SALT is a positive way for student-athlete leaders from the 13 KCAC full member institutions to connect with each other and to be a voice to the KCAC office,” Dr. Karol Hunt, Tabor Associate Athletic Director, Senior Woman Leader, and Special Assistant to the KCAC Commissioner, said “These 26 individuals are the KCAC’s best and SALT provides them an opportunity to develop their leadership skills that can enhance their roles on their own campuses.”

Dr. Hunt serves as the KCAC SALT administrative liason.

Lindsay Kauffman and Ean Heise, both of Sterling College, will serve as co-presidents for this year.
